Established in 2006, the BASE Foundation was founded by a group of coaches and baseball/softball parents who felt this great game was being disrespected on multiple levels. A growing trend of angry parents, a clear lack of respect for rules, officials and opponents, and a glaring problem with ballplayers unable to control their negative emotions.
Sportsmanship and Teamwork are often words used in baseball and softball organizations, yet they spend little or no time teaching and instructing athletes what those words really mean. More importantly, there were no vehicles or teaching tools available to coaches or parents to help them educate their young players. Therefore, there was often a lack of understanding and no clear expectations of how players should handle themselves or how to be a role-model teammate.
Over the past 11 years, more than 900 young athletes from 24 different clubs and schools have been impacted by BASE Training. A five- course curriculum developed by coaches and sports psychologists to help players identify, adjust and improve on the mental aspects of this great game. Graduates of the program rave about the game-changing instruction. The BASE Foundation is committed to bringing character and sportsmanship back to the Diamond.
Sign up for BASE Training and see your young athletes become better ballplayers, better teammates and better people. Parents and coaches might also gain insight from the coursework in helping to reinforce positive actions while reducing negative behaviors.
BASE Foundation is planning to significantly grow our mission in partnership with dozens of companies, organizations and associations at the new POWERplex. This 50 acre campus will include a dozen hardcourts and six turfed ballfields including 4 that are indoors during bad weather months and one outdoor 2,500 seat stadium.
This complex will fully integrate BASE Training education and health literacy in a 300-seat theatre and two 50-seat classrooms. This state of the art facility is slated to open in the fall of 2018.
